St. Joseph the Worker Medal
Saint Joseph the Worker is a title and feast honoring Saint Joseph, the husband of the Virgin Mary and foster father of Jesus Christ. He was a humble carpenter (tekton) from Nazareth who worked with his hands to support the Holy Family.
In 1955, Pope Pius XII established the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker on May 1 (the same day as International Workers’ Day / May Day). This was done to present a Christian vision of the dignity of human labor and to counter the secular/communist celebrations of workers. The feast highlights how ordinary, honest work — like Joseph’s daily labor in his workshop — is holy and shares in God’s creative plan.
Saint Joseph is the model of a silent, just, hardworking, and obedient man who faithfully protected and provided for Mary and Jesus.

Workers and laborers (especially manual workers)
Carpenters, craftsmen, joiners, and woodworkers

This feast reminds us that work is not just a burden but a way to participate in God’s plan and sanctify daily life.
